FORD LISTENS TO LOCAL BUSINESSES AT ANTRIM ENTERPRISE AGENCY

David Ford MLA met with the Manager of the Antrim Enterprise Agency to listen to concerns faced by local small to medium sized enterprises, and ways local politicians can assist businesses in Antrim.  David Ford also took the opportunity to meet a successful local business and saw the associated positives brought to the local economy.

David Ford said, “I was pleased to get the opportunity to speak with Jennifer McWilliams, the Manager at Antrim Enterprise Agency, where we discussed some of the positives as well as some difficulties due to the current climate.

“The Enterprise Agency provides valuable help and expertise to local businesses, and my visit will allow me to raise some issues to assist in the work they do.

“I took the opportunity to meet with Energeia Technologies, a successful local business providing specialist engineering and manufacturing services across the UK and Ireland.

“I was impressed listening to how Energeia have identified ways in which they can provide a highly specialised work across a number of sectors, sustaining local jobs in Antrim.

“I was particularly pleased to hear how Energeia have worked to expand their business to include specialist manufacturing, bringing more benefits to Antrim.  I learned that, by manufacturing equipment locally, there is a significant benefit to the local economy, and a much needed boost to the local supply chain”.

“I will continue to engage with local businesses to identify ways in which I can help protect and create jobs locally.  Antrim depends on both large and small employers and it is important that we develop all sections of the economy”.
